Welcome to Acatalepsy's second EMP/APT meme! Our players suggested this meme as a way to advertise the game and toy around prior to our Test Drive Meme on October 21st. We won't be giving out the prompts ahead of time, but here's a fun clue! . . . Astoria has some fun things planned for the Circle, okay. Anyway! Some quick facts about Acatalepsy before we drive in! ✔️ Astoria is the game's main NPC! She is usually around during your time at the Temple. ✔️ The TDM always takes place in the Temple of Beginnings, the home-base of the Game! We will have several prompts available for the players to choose from. ✔️ Expect some light-hearted shenanigans for the TDM. ;) The last TDM can be found here! ✔️ Established characters will be at the Temple to greet the potential new characters. ✔️ the TDM threads are considered canon if the players so choose! ✔️ Acatalepsy has a 100 player cap. You may app/reserve one character per round. We currently have 83/100 players in game. ✔️ Reserves open October 24th at 12 AM EST. ✔️ Because of how close we are to the player cap, there will be a 18 player reserve cap. This means that 18 new players will be allowed to reserve. ✔️ Returning players will not be affected by the reserve cap. ✔️ Acatalepsy has an eight (8) character cast cap. All magical items are nerfed upon arrival, but Astoria allows you to keep one (1) magical weapon/weapon. It may not work within the Temple of Beginnings, but it may work on your travels. Only time will tell. To make up for the lack of powers, your character is gifted an ability by Astoria herself. If you ask why? Astoria will simply smile and say, Because. ♥ . That gift can be anything from creating fire to creating spontaneous birthday cakes to rain from the sky for about an hour -- however, Astoria does not grant anything too game-breaking to her Circle members. She does, however, get creative in her gifts -- she likes to think she's funny. TELL US MORE: tifa is a pretty iconic video game character for a reason - she has a lot of emotional depth and flaws but ultimately is a loyal friend who cares deeply for those important to her. she is a martial artist and can kick anyone's ass probably
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? molecular transmutation. through punching or kicking an object to the point of destruction, tifa is able to reconstruct or reform it in a way that she prefers — she can unlock locks, make holes in doors, alter the forms of weapons, etc. In its most rudimentary form (i.e. the form she will be entering the game with), she is limited to smaller objects, and cannot inherently change the form or mass of the object (for example, she wouldn't be able to turn a sword into a pile of foam, but she would be able to make the sword bend, sharpen or dull the blade, or do other things to it that don't interfere with the integrity of its current state).

POSSIBLY APPING: Utena Tenjou from...Revolutionary Girl Utena
TELL US MORE: Utena's a teenage girl from a living Escher painting/Eldritch abomination of a school that is seemingly ruled by an all powerful student council. She's unwittingly made the "Engaged" to an equally mysterious and powerful(?) fellow student, Anthy Himemiya, or the Rose Bride.

Utena herself is a plucky and tomboyish teenage girl who is good to the point of naivete and wants to be a prince bc she's traumatized but we'll get into that later and so kind of embodies all the traits of a prince. Or tries too! She's also surprisingly a badass when given the opportunity.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? Shadow manipulation! Basically Utena will be able to peel off her shadow and have it move independently of her (sort of like Peter Pan.) A couple other ideas I had were dreamwalking (able to travel within the dreams of others) and area disruption, as in she could somehow alter or change the area around her in some way for brief periods of time, like a small-scale illusion.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? Given that in canon Magnus is a fighter among a whole bunch of spellcasters, there's a lot to work with. Off the top of my head I'm thinking something strength based or possibly talking to animals (because he's proficient in that). If I'm being mean, time based powers could also be a thing.

POSSIBLY APPING: I currently have Brother Nier here, but! Ogata Hyakunosuke (Golden Kamuy), Jacopo (The House in Fata Morgana), Connor Kenway (Assassin's Creed) orrrr maybe even Asougi Kazuma (Ace Attorney)?

TELL US MORE: Ogata is a bad, bad sniper cat man. ...Well, he likes to pretend that he is. I mean, he absolutely is, but he has the capacity to grow attached to people, appreciate kindness and regret his actions like any other person, even if isn't in a conventional or healthy way. He doesn't like admitting that though. Being surrounded by this many genuinely nice people would really do a number on him. Jacopo is really similar in that regard actually, yet another bad man who Does Things Wrong. Except uh, he's deeply sensitive and cares about people a lot more than he lets on. Really annoyingly difficult but he's not used to Friends so if he makes them he'll be ride or die. Accidentally killed all of France at some point. Connor Kenway is a really moe mass murderer, will punch a bear to protect you, Asougi is a walking spoiler character who may or may not be a recovering amnesiac with an attitude but he's polite enough and will cheer you on in his own way. Ace Attorney, man. All of these men have severe trust issues. Oops.

It would depend on the character, but I was thinking something that would involve soul searching or something like that for one of them because I like giving people the opportunity to create mind palaces and that good stuff. Communicative healing, shapeshifting, alchemy and emotion reading are ones I have in mind atm but I'm still sitting on it.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? The only thing that comes to mind is essentially something similar to what he had, but more like... random items around him suddenly lose their gravity whenever he sneezes. Other than that, i'd love to hear some ideas.

Your power idea is a good one! I did something similar with Atsushi (he turns into a housecat, and it's controlled by his heartbeat) and it's worked out pretty well. BSD abilities are pretty easy to tone down for this game.

POSSIBLY APPING: Morrigan from the Dragon Age series
TELL US MORE: A witch of the Wilds, Morrigan is a realist who sees survival as something necessary for others to learn. If they not have the power to defend themselves, then they are weak and should be left to their fate. This view softened during the events of Origins and even moreso once she has a child. And, despite this cold outlook, she's described as "innocent, beautiful, and vulnerable" by Kate Mulgrew, who plays Flemeth - Morrigan's mother.

She is also very much in the business of preserving once-thought-lost magic, creatures and history, so there's that too!
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? Shapeshifting. Into a dragon, specifically. She can shapeshift into many other forms in canon (cat, wolf, spider, bear, a swarm of "stinging insects" (lbr it's probably bees), and a crow), and learns how to transform into a dragon in Inquisition if a certain path is chosen. I'm also not that creative at 4am, so there's that.

POSSIBLY APPING: Hizamaru (Touken Ranbu)-- still settling on which iteration of canon to pull from, stares at two different animes + musical canon. I also have Hachisuka and Ishikirimaru, but I'm mostly interested in playing Hizamaru for now!
TELL US MORE: for starters he is literally a sword who's also a person now, so there's definitely still a degree of "how to human" going on here! He goes on time travel missions to protect history, stabs things, and is generally a pretty earnest, reliable sword-- he will Get Things Done, and also tell you all about his older brother who will probably show up at some point. Please give this sword a vacation, he deserves it. He's also pretty damn old and has had multiple names and stories attached to him, but at least he remembers them, unlike certain bros.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? I'm leaning towards some form of poison maybe (since he was given one of his former names because the sword was said to sound like a snake)-- alternately there's the less serious option which is basically just. extend-o-sword. supposedly his brother cut him down to be the same size once, so why not make him Stretch Armsword.

Jason has the power to turn into a brick! Yes, one (1) single brick. Dimensions: 3-5/8" x 2-1/4" x 8". Weight: 4.5 lbs. Colour: Orange. As a brick, he can jostle himself approximately one (1) centimetre to the left or to the right. His cognitive functioning remains about the same but he obviously has no sensory or communicative ability or motor function... because he is a brick.
