Welcome to Acatalepsy's first EMP/APT meme! Our players suggested this meme as a way to advertise the game and toy around prior to our Test Drive Meme on August 23. We won't be giving out the prompts ahead of time, but here's a fun clue! . . . Astoria has some fun things planned for when the Circle returns from Struxta, okay. Anyway! Some quick facts about Acatalepsy before we drive in! ✔️ Astoria is the game's main NPC! She will be greeting the Circle sometime in September, ICly! ✔️ The TDM always takes place in the Temple of Beginnings, the home-base of the Game! We will have several prompts available for the players to choose from. ✔️ Expect some light-hearted shenanigans for the TDM. ;) The last TDM can be found here! ✔️ Established characters will be returning from the world Struxta on August 23, the same day as the TDM, to greet the potential new characters. ✔️ the TDM threads are considered canon if the players so choose! ✔️ Acatalepsy has a 100 player cap. ACATALEPSY 101 Acatalepsy is a plot-driven world-hopping RPG, in which characters travel from world to world through the powers of Astoria, the Head Witch of the Circle that your character has been drafted into. All magical items are nerfed upon arrival, but Astoria allows you to keep one (1) magical weapon/weapon. It may not work within the Temple of Beginnings, but it may work on your travels. Only time will tell. To make up for the lack of powers, your character is gifted an ability by Astoria herself. If you ask why? Astoria will simply smile and say, Because. ♥ . That gift can be anything from creating fire to creating spontaneous birthday cakes to rain from the sky for about an hour -- however, Astoria does not grant anything too game-breaking to her Circle members. She does, however, get creative in her gifts -- she likes to think she's funny. Ain
Ain is an angel created by a goddess of his world to restore the Great Earth Mana Source that was misused by humans. While he had to work with humans, he had a lot of bad experiences and eventually grew to distrust them, abandoning his emotions in the process. Now he's a very sparkly blue angel/lesser god whose skill set focuses solely on unlimited blade works and killing demons. Underneath all his .... tendencies.... he's a decent person, really! And nice if a bit (read: very) stern. To most people. He just doesn't want to catch these human cooties.

Jokes aside, if I bring him he'll have to deal with having emotions and trying to fulfill his duty of being a deity's emissary while being forced to become a human. I would love to get nonhuman CR for him, especially robots/androids and fellow angels, because he has been alone for all of his life and has mixed feelings towards robots, who like him will be discarded and forgotten after fulfiling his purpose.

He has a lot of issues and I hope to be able to do them justice and have him grow out of his self-dramatizing habit.

Forneus
A middle-class demon in a world where angels and God are invaders of Earth and demons are spawned from the planet's spirit to resist this incursion. She takes human form and lives amongst humans in a city as part of demonkind's crusade to preserve the environment. Dabbles a lot in alchemy, partly due to the need to keep any important developments out of angel hands.... outside of her espionage work, she enjoys fishing and running. A 'big brother' type of character who rolls with the punches.

I don't have a lot of her backstory written yet but she'll enjoy traveling very much! As well as meeting fellow alchemists.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? For Ain, was debating giving him enlivening but 'doesn't that sound like julius' power' YES EXACTLY if you have other ideas please tell me. Undecided for Forneus if I do bring her.

TELL US MORE: Rosette comes from a version of 1920s America filled with demons, and is a nun packing heat. She's also the sole reason why her division is probably going to have to file for bankruptcy someday, because of sheer collateral damage. And yes, she's a nun. Japan doesn't understand nuns.

Mimi is a bubbly teenager who has experience with this whole whisked off to another world thing, and she wasn't impressed before and she sure isn't going to be impressed now. Maybe there will be less monsters this time around? That'd be kind of sad, ngl.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? I don't have anything solidified for Mimi, except vague hand gestures at emotion manipulation—either by making people feel things, or intensifying said emotions.

Rosette will have temporary time/damage reversal on items or people. She can reverse time on one target for a very short duration. This is going to royally mess her up for Reasons and I'm 100% here for this kind of heartbreak.

The man best known as King Arthur's advisor, court mage, and general guide - a prophetic and powerful wizard who helped kings rise to power and rule their lands, who watched over the world and all of his age before he got sealed away in the land of Avalon, and still does to this day. In Fate/ canon, not only does he do all this, but he eventually manifests himself as an ally towards saving humanity from destruction.

A friendly and good natured individual who wants to have fun, goes by his whims half of the time and is liable to get in situations but brush it off with a charming smile while he moves on to the next thing. Not exactly a friend, though - he's only half human, and things like real relationships, friendships, and healthily accepting your emotions are a bit beyond him. Decent at faking fitting in, but just as likely to not and to have his mind running at 300 miles an hour. A troublemaker but a wise man who's used to planning ahead.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? Honestly, I'm not sure. Potentially something leaning on his status as a kingmaker and aide but I'm open to any ideas anyone has.

TELL US MORE: He's a grumpy old cop who feels more than he knows what to do with. He'll fight anyone but as he only has the normal training cops get - which might be a little rusty - and he's going to be in a world full of protagonists (a lot of whom, despite power loss, will probably have learned skills he doesn't), a fight would probably end with him getting his ass kicked. This will not stop him. Also, back on home base, wine provided twice a day will not be enough. If anyone there makes something he can drink he is probably going to be their friend. Or try.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? I was thinking empathy? Like, if he touches someone he can feel everything they're feeling. For a guy who has issues with his own emotions that sounded fun, especially since it might be useful in interrogations and stuff. But he already might be underpowered in combat situations, so I was sort of wondering if I should try to think of a power more usable in combat. (I'm not that worried about this, and pretty happy with the empathy thing, but this seemed like a good place to mention that in case anyone has any thoughts.)

ANYTHING ELSE? His actor was the voice for Mr. Krabs, so last night my brain gifted me with the idea that Hank is just Mr. Krabs operating a Men-In-Black style human suit. This is not an idea I want to have. Someone take the mental image away from me.

All of our events have avenues available for non-combat characters to be able to help! In our most recent world/event, there is an entire group devoted to "support/healing" in order to fix the problem, and the world as a whole is not necessarily combat focused. There are always going to be situations where being combat-savvy is helpful but you'll be able to participate regardless.

We also have a lot of characters with non-combat powers who are super useful, and some characters have super silly powers! So if empathy works for you, and would provide interesting RP, I will always vote in favor of that. :)

TELL US MORE: Haru is a sweetheart, prim and proper lady, raised in wealth by a father who saw her more as a pawn to use in growing his international food business. She became a Phantom Thief and a Persona user after betraying her father's heart, refusing to be his obedient daughter when he tried to marry her off to a creep.

She loves gardening, cats, swinging an ax and being a shoujo manga heroine. Will befriend everyone. Also total old lady when it comes to technology.

TELL US MORE: Aphra's from the new-ish Vader comics and her own solo series, as well as appearing in the current main Star Wars comic. She was conceived as the archaeological antithesis of Indiana Jones and she used to work for Darth Vader! Now she's just a kinda evil disaster lesbian. As for Emil, he's a special boy.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? My idea for Aphra's power is her being able to certify the authenticity of an item since she's an archaeologist. If she said a fake sword was real, it'd become real. TELL US MORE: Hisami is a sweet, shy wallflower, but responds well enough to attempts to befriend her. She's very normal apart from the fact that at the age of 13, she is a published author with one novel to her name. As expected, she is a very huge bookworm and gets very passionate about books. Though she's sensitive and submissive and hardly ever raises her voice, she's polite and kind and always tries to help the people she cares about.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? The power to change or alter any inanimate object that exists, within limits, by writing it down and willing it so. For example she can't will a tree into existence where there isn't one, make a tree sprout wings and suddenly fly away, or make an apple tree bear bananas, but she can make a tree flower out of season or cause its leaves to change into autumn colors. If that even makes sense. Or, I was also thinking of her being able to remove all noise and sound from a given area or object for a period of time.

Astolfo is a ditzy, nonbinary* knight summoned into the Rider class. He's infamous for having lost his sanity and bases his actions entirely on his whims. Thinking? He doesn't do that! But he's at heart a loyal and brave hero who sees himself as a weak Heroic Spirit.

*Astolfo uses "boku" when talking about himself, so I'm using he/him pronouns for him!

da Vinci is the one and only Renaissance Man summoned into the Caster class. She's an eccentric genius with a childish streak to her, though she can be surprisingly thoughtful when the occasion calls for it. When it doesn't? She can be rude or unnecessarily sassy though she means well! Really! She loves all things beautiful (like herself, duh.)

homura: pmmm is from 2011 i think many people know the gist by now but tfw you time loop so hard you accidentally ascend your best friend to godtier and have no idea what to do with yourself after. tiny memory witch lich. more than a little prone towards skepticism of generally everything up to and including mysterious figures granting magic to others, but is also squishy at heart despite being made out of willpower, self-denial, and determination.
eve: tiny robotic queen of a fallen kingdom; insert fantasy magitech resource issues here bc magitech apparently guzzles too much of world mana who would have thought. slept through the last remnants of her kingdom being killed/destroyed by the intrepid rpg protagonist party due to Some Mistakes and Miscommunications because she'd... shut herself down into cryosleep to allow her own power core to try to power and facilitate the reconstruction of what's left. then she wakes up to 'hi we just destroyed everything you cared about, wanna be friends?'

TELL US MORE: The first time Ephraim appears in the game, he's attacking a fortress in the heart of enemy territory while backed up by only three knights and running out of supplies. He is not concerned about this in the least. He wins. When the reinforcements come to trap them, he just kind of shrugs and goes "that doesn't really work for me, we're going to knock you guys around a bit and take off."

I feel like this scene basically says everything you need to know about Ephraim, aside from maybe sister jokes.
