Welcome to Acatalepsy's third EMP/ATP meme! Our players suggested this meme as a way to advertise the game and toy around prior to our Test Drive Meme on January 21st. We won't be giving out the prompts ahead of time, but here's a fun clue! . . . Astoria is having something of a difficult time, lately. Anyway! Some quick facts about Acatalepsy before we drive in! ✔️ Astoria is the game's main NPC! She is usually around during your time at the Temple. ✔️ The TDM always takes place in the Temple of Beginnings, the home-base of the Game! We will have several prompts available for the players to choose from. ✔️ Expect some light-hearted shenanigans for the TDM. ;) The last TDM can be found here! ✔️ Established characters will be at the Temple to greet the potential new characters. ✔️ the TDM threads are considered canon if the players so choose! ✔️ Acatalepsy has a 100 player cap. You may app/reserve one character per round. We currently have 61/100 players in game. ✔️ Reserves open January 24th at 9:00 PM EST. ✔️ To avoid difficulties with player placement, there will be a reserve cap. This means that 39 new players will be allowed to reserve. ✔️ Returning players will not be affected by the reserve cap. ✔️ Acatalepsy has an eight (8) character cast cap. Here is our taken list! ✔️ Applications open February 1st at 9:00 PM EST and close February 5th at 11:59 PM EST. ✔️ Reserves will be given first priority. People who do not reserve can still apply in the case of more slots becoming available post AC (aka if all 39 reserves do not app), but will be considered after reserved applications are processed. ✔️ We have an every-other-month app cycle! ACATALEPSY 101 Acatalepsy is a plot-driven world-hopping RPG, in which characters travel from world to world through the powers of Astoria, the Head Witch of the Circle that your character has been drafted into. Your mission, should you choose to accept it? Save the universe. All magical items are nerfed upon arrival, but Astoria allows you to keep one (1) magical weapon/weapon. It may not work within the Temple of Beginnings, but it may work on your travels. Only time will tell. To make up for the lack of powers, your character is gifted an ability by Astoria herself. If you ask why? Astoria will simply smile and say, Because. ♥ . That gift can be anything from creating fire to creating spontaneous birthday cakes to rain from the sky for about an hour -- however, Astoria does not grant anything too game-breaking to her Circle members. She does, however, get creative in her gifts -- she likes to think she's funny. Every decision a character makes can change the course of the game, and Astoria keeps a watchful eye over those in her service. POSSIBLY APPING: Oerba Yun Fang, from Final Fantasy XIII.
TELL US MORE: Fang is one of the six Gran Pulsel'Cie in FFXIII — doomed humans branded by a god known as a fal'Cie and fated to complete a task or risk becoming monsters.

Described as a woman "unconcerned with trivialities," Fang is fierce, brave and determined. Her often lackadaisical, self-confident, sarcastic nature belies an iron will and a dangerous recklessness. Has a good sense of humor, but can be aggressive and volatile if provoked or pushed into a corner. One thing is certain: her friends' well-being take precedence over all other things, and Fang is willing and able to perform terrible acts to guarantee it.

She serves as the game's Dragoon, and is extremely dedicated to one (1) person. She's a jerk! But she's fun and funny.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? I have one written down:
Empathy Sponge: Fang will be able to detect and absorb negative emotions, i.e. grief, anger, and so on. She will be able to absorb these things via touch. The ability will manifest as follows:

Those affected by negative emotions will appear to Fang to have a l'Cie brand on some part of their body. Depending on the depth of the negative emotion, the "stage" of the brand will differ, with the 13th stage being the most severe. In the case of extreme emotional/mental distress, an individual will appear to Fang as a Cie'th. She is only able to see one person at a time with this affliction, and is only able to absorb this degree of emotional anguish 1x a day.

Fang will receive an "imprint" of whatever is causing the emotional distress. This imprint will cause negative physical side effects. In minor cases it'll create mild headaches, nausea, cold/flu like symptoms. In major cases, such as purging a "Cie'th," the physical effects will be more severe (major nosebleeds, temporary loss of consciousness, partial and temporary crystallization of her own body). Occasionally the imprint will be clear to her, but with Cie'th it will mostly come out as muddled shrieking anguish and she will have to struggle to understand it until getting an idea of what her power does.

Purges of any emotional distress will give unburdened individuals a mood boost. This is temporary as well.

TELL US MORE: A robotic star among monsters who has a dream of performing for humanity, Mettaton is enterprising, grandiose, and vain. He's an outrageous performer who has a love for the spotlight, operates a resort, sells products under his brand, and televises more genres of shows than should be legal for one person. Loves his fans, adores himself, and has eccentric inclinations. There were plans to allow the player to marry him during Undertale's development, but this feature was likely removed because it would require coding in the ability to divorce him. One of these claims might be false.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? Oh I am absolutely entertaining invisibility or a similar power because I think that's funny. Mettaton won't use it. He'll claim his good looks are too powerful as it stands, so he wasn't given a power. Astoria nerfed him. I am open to other suggestions, however.

TELL US MORE: so! frisk is a literal child who likes to approach things with a quirky and weird mindset. they like to help people and will play along with just about anything. they also aren't afraid of big bad floweys, so they're kind of cool.

ON THE OTHER HAND, VEGAS VACATION GOES ROGUE. yumeko is big into gambling. it's all she thinks about and she loves to stake everything on them. she comes off as pretty normal and nice until she gets excited (only about gambling. only about gambling, ever.) but for some reason people are scared of her!!! why is that. i couldn't imagine.

and in the last corner we have hajime from gcrowds, who is an eccentric weirdo who likes to cuteify things. she never comes off as normal and could not be normal if you paid her to do it. what you see is what you get with her, she's just here to be your friend. hajime is also a HERO!! and loves to help people overcome things.

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? i'd really love to brainstorm on these since i'm not 100% on any of them, so any comments on them would be helpful.

for frisk: their power in game would likely be something like an inventory joke, maybe just a straight up homestuck rip off. frisk has a fetchmodus and it malfunctions all the time. imagine all the earthworms they could keep in their inventory.... but i have another idea, and i'm stuck between the two; if not the inventory joke, frisk can use an infinite pack of band-aids called Hopes & Dreams to heal people with them.

for yumeko: i think that something i'd like to do is memory gambling. in short: when you agree to a game with yumeko, your memories will manifest as gambling chips that work on a sliding scale. if you lose your chip, you lose the memory. you can win it back from yumeko, or vice versa, but the more important to you the memory is, the more it's worth. i am thinking perhaps they can be used as some kind of boon if you so choose, THOUGH I AM NOT SURE WHAT...perhaps they are just worth money or can be converted into it. i don't know. if you have any ideas let me know.

for hajime: i think i'd like to give her something dealing with communication! my thought right now is perhaps she can make notebooks that are all interconnected to her's and can be used to fill in with your thoughts and feelings, perhaps involuntarily ?? maybe a literal translator so it'll tell her, plainly, what people mean even if they lie to her? :la

POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? "The ability to summon a toy. It is random every time. He can only summon one at a time, but can do that as many times as he wants. No toys will be secretly be 'weapons'. If they happen to have weapons (toy soldier, etc) they will still be blunt/plastic/just toys."

He really only works in games where you can nerf the shit out of his powers, otherwise he's a pain. He'll still be a pain, but just slightly less OP of one.

medusa sought to protect her peaceful existence with her sisters - and so she did, until she devoured them. eventually perseus puts her out of her misery. she's considerably guarded and is slow to let others in, in part because of bashfulness. on the battlefield, she adopts a different persona, becoming coldly cruel and calculating.

TELL US MORE: sorta-immoratal but very undead hunter gunslinger (big gun, shoots sunfire) who isn't against stabbing things in the face. has a cute little friend aka her ghost who's name is jinju. she's something of an oddity among her undead guardian brothers-in-arms in that she knows a lot about her life before her first death. was a psycholinguist who taught a warmind, a military artificial intelligence designed for strategic orbital or land warfare, language and independent thought. faked her death to learn more about said warmind and her adopted family because it was easier than going the official route. ended up having to help save mars from being ate by a giant worm god, fun times. likes golden age tech, like, a lot and helping out the little guys who just happen to be super intelligent artificial intelligence.

TELL US MORE: Percival is. A lot. He is a former Knight and the youngest prince of one of the most powerful and frankly, evil kingdoms in Granblue. In spite of this, he firmly believes in protecting/supporting the marginalized and strives to create a kingdom where those swept aside by the world can live in peace.

He happens to have an awful king complex, a difficult personality and a terribly...er, seductive aura? It isn't intentional. Or is it? No one really knows. He is a Chad. A Chad looking for vassals. He is somehow both flamboyant and rough around the edges at once. He's just awful. Despite how much of an utter bitch he may be, Percival believes in the best of people and will go to far lengths to help you imrpove as a person

Chara is...Chara. Massive spoilers for Undertale involved in that. I'm not especially focused on them and would honestly love to see someone else app them instead but the prospect is there, and it would be neat to play them in a setting where people could actually influence how they think! But they might torment you a little, maybe.

Kris is...a kid who fell into a black hole in their supply closet. Probably not a prospect at this point in time due to Deltarune being unfinished but I am considering it!

he was created by zero and basically acts as a retainer for her and the other intoners. also they bone occasionally. all of his magic and powers are directly tied to intoners like zero so he's kind of a toothless threat to anyone not just a regular person but it doesn't mean he won't try. :)

POSSIBLY APPING: Sakura Matou (routes for consideration are either HF Normal Route, or UBW)
TELL US MORE: Sakura has many similarities to the perfect waifu trope: quiet, shy, and kind, loves to cook and is always ready to take care of the people she cares about. That said, her backstory is brutal and she herself is a walking trigger warning for ... a lot of stuff. Because Fate/ is the canon I've chosen to torture myself with. See post here for more details. Due to that nebulous "stuff" she's gone through, there is a vein of resentment and pain that's built inside her over the years, though she mostly shoves it under the surface.

But really all you need to know is that she's a Good Girl and Heaven's Feel should be renamed They Had it Coming.
POTENTIAL MAGICAL POWER? I'd be open to hearing ideas! I honestly have no concrete plans and will probably be considering stuff all the way up until I write my app, if I do end up applying. So yeah THROW ME SOME BONES, insert FGO grinding joke here
